About The Artist
Joan Claire FitzPatrick enjoys dabbling in charcoals, watercolors, and washes for portrait and still life subjects. She has studied classical portrait and figure drawing with Robert Liberace in Washington D.C., with Michael Grimaldi at the Art Student’s League in Manhattan, and with Henry Wingate in a mountain studio in central Virginia. In portraiture work, Joan Claire’s heart is to dismantle our objectifying devices, to build empathy, and let the form reveal the inner soul. In still life work, she loves to paint a dreamscape or backstory from a few beloved objects. She currently lives in Kimberton, Pennsylvania with her husband Paul in a fixer-upper farmhouse.
